go Oliver go!!!

I couldn't believe this day would ever come.  Oliver Lamb is mobile!!! Today he scooted backwards... this is the beginning of a whole new chapter in our lives...

Just yesterday we were given the advice to get on all fours to see the world out of his perspective and see what to baby-proof... I guess it is time to baby-proof the house....

Germany Trip is booked

Oliver and I will be flying to Germany in May... Due to some training Patrick won't be able to join us.

I have no problem flying by myself, I actually enjoy flying - however I am NOT looking forward to be in a plane with Oliver!  What if he screams the entire 8 hrs???? How am I going to be able to go to the restroom??? Go through security?  Pick up my luggage??? I need another set of hands!!!!! How is he going to adjust to the 6hrs time difference?

I am sure he will be fine and everything will be fine, but WHY do I live so  far away????

crib sleeper

After 7 months Oliver has been transitioned to his crib in his room!!!!  I didn't think it would be difficult to do, but it was.  The first night (Sunday) I tried to transition him, he did not like it at all.  He was used to get ready for bed in his room and then move to our bedroom to go to bed.  Needless to say, but he slept in his bassinet in our room.

Monday night he didn't mind it when I turned off the light in his room and started nursing him.  He even fell asleep and I was able to transfer him into his crib.  BUT because I am not used to how to handle him - I took to long and he woke up :(  Back to our room.  However Patrick had the genius idea to let him go into a deep sleep in his bassinet and then to move him later on into his crib.  9pm he was successfully transfered and he slept in his crib.  He woke up probably 3-4 times and the first time I knocked over the radiator on my way to his room - poor Frankee might have gotten hit too... He woke up around 5am and was brought to my bed and there we slept again ;)

Third night is the charm ;)
it worked and it was perfect.  I prepared well - changed the night light around, the baby-monitor was in place, the sleep sheep was ready to go and it worked!!!  He woke up a few times before 11pm but no biggie and only once at night.  He was up again around 5am but then did sleep until almost 8am again.  Enough time for me to do my first work-out since Nam, shower and get ready :)

Tonight he fell asleep without any problems... now let's see when he will sleep through the night :)

Thanks to my co-worker Mandy I did record this milestone :)

There is a first time for everything...

Last Thursday morning my poor little guy was sick for the first time :(
He woke up around 4 for a feeding, went back to bed and started crying at around 5am - that is when he suddenly got really sick and vomited.  After all the yuck was out of him he fell right back asleep on my chest.  Now I stayed in bed until about 7am with him sleeping on me, he then woke up and was chipper again.  To be on the safe side I gave him some Tylenol and went back to our room.  THEN he got sick again!!!!  for the rest of the day all he wanted to do was cuddle and sleep preferably on me!  He was also refusing any kid of solid food, milk on the other hand was still ok.  I started to get worried and did call the nurses' line to make sure I shouldn't come in.  Because he was eating and not running a fever I only had to make sure he was drinking plenty and got rest (check and check).
The saddest part of that day was that he barley wanted to smile :(

Friday morning he woke up his usual chipper self and I thought he was all good... He still didn't want to eat any solid food, but he was smiling and babbling away... However he refused to take any kind of naps.

We had lots of things planned for Saturday which we cancelled (besides IKEA) to be on the safe side and I am glad I did, because Oliver shared his little stomach bug with his mommy :(

Today he feels GREAT (eat 100% normal) and I feel good too...

I do believe I could need another day to rest but no luck.

Waiting on our furniture deliver from IKEA right now... The window was 10:00 - 2:00 and it is 2:38 now and I am still waiting....... arrrggghhhhhhhhhh

tooth monster

Oliver cut his first tooth almost a month ago - well I wasn't sure when it officially counts...
do you start from the minute you can feel something on his gums, or when you can see it, or when it is here????

Well he cut his first tooth when he was 6 months and 1 day (Feb 8th) - I did my usual daily inspection of the gum (as a nursing mother I got to look out for the girls!!!) and I felt a little sharp tooth cutting through!!!  Oliver has been very pleasant while teething, no health issues just a little restlessness.
His first tooth was his bottom right central incisor :)

Last Friday (Feb  25th) he was very restless again in the afternoon and after I got home from work I found the reason - TOOTH NUMBER 2 IS COMING!!!! (bottom left central incisor) - now it is not officially out yet, but it is a start :)
